Turkey Vultures

Pictures of the Turkey Vultures I saw today.

Today when I was backing out from my driveway an eagle caught some kind of prey (it looked like a raccoon?) in front of us. Three other big birds caught my attention on the side of the road. Three giant Turkey Vultures. The eagle took of but the vultures stayed. They where eating and looking out for bigger predators (the eagle, mountain lions or humans). I so wished that I had my camera with me. However, Hayley was crying in the car and I had to get going.

On the way home from the grocery store Hayley was asleep and the birds where still there, just outside our house. I took Hayley into the house and went outside with my camera this time.

I´ve always been fascinated by Turkey Vultures. I know most people hate them but I think they are interesting animals. Beautiful in their own ways.

Did you know that their droppings are so strong that it can kill vegetation?

  1. Fina bilder du fick på fåglarna. Har sett många sådana också i mina trakter. De är imponerande i storlek.
Hade ingen aning om att deras avföring var så stark. Kram!
