Computer Breakdown and Photography

I've had some difficulties with my computer lately. I bravely worked around them for almost half a year. Lately they've gotten more and more difficult to manage. Yesterday when I just finished writing on my blog and was about to upload pictures to the post, it completely crashed (that's why yesterday's post only had a link to the pictures. Because I uploaded them to a photo site before writing on my blog..) I'm amazed the computer lasted me that long. I've had it for three years and used it A LOT.

Since it had a head of it's own lately, I've been prepared for the final breakdown. I did "lose" around 20 000 pictures, but I have most of them on other places. I guess I could have a professional try to save them. However I think I'll choose to "have a fresh start" with only new, better pictures instead. I really want to improve my photography, that's why I've been taken so many pictures lately. I'm also going to take an online photo course, starting tomorrow. I am very excited about that! The name of the course is "Everyday Magic". What an inspiring name! I'm looking forward to a lot of inspiration and networking with other photographers.

So what am I typing on right now? My extremely supportive husband surprised me with a new computer today - a MacBook Pro. I'm looking forward to create some "Everyday Magic" inside of it. Should I use the photo program that comes with the computer? Or find out where my PhotoShop CD is and install PhotoShop?

  1. I have to determine if there is a method I
can incorporate my tweets to my blogs through incorporating some widgets.
I have tried searching for plugins on the internet. I was
expecting the fact that you have a blog may be of great help in terms of finding out exactly
where I can get them. I apologize for going off topic with that.
I truly do take pleasure in reading through your blogs as well and i'm always looking towards any new articles you post.

  2. I too have a Mac but I decided to buy Lightroom to work with, organize and edit my photos. If you know how Photoshop works and like the program you could load it on the new computer. If you don't know how it works then I recommend iphoto that came with the computer or lightroom. I think Tammy now uses snapseed or something like that and she'll talk about it later in the course.

Your scenery in the pictures is so beautiful. I love the sunsets/sunrises.

  3. My first comment seems to be off in cyber space. I too have a Mac and I'm not using iphoto which came with the Mac but I bought Lightroom. If you have Photoshop and know how the program works and like it then you could load it on your computer. If you don't know how it works it's pretty complicated from what I've heard and iphoto would be easier to use. Tammy should talk about software and I know she has some links on her course page.

    1. Thank you so much for your feedback Christina! I do know photo shop pretty well but I am using iphoto now and that works fine too :D I used Lightroom before buying Photoshop, it worked good as well. Photoshop was sort of the next step after Lightroom. Using iPhoto from now on seem to be a good alternative to Photoshop. It's very uncomplicated and works great. Looking forward to hear Tammy talk more about software. The photo course is very inspiring. I'm so glad I signed up for it. I think I'm going to take the writing class too. Tammy is a good teacher. I like her teaching style.
